Mistral AI unveils Mistral Large 4 with 1T parameters and immediate API access

Mistral AI announced Mistral Large 4, also referred to as Le Chonk, featuring 1 trillion total parameters and 49 billion active parameters with native multimodal support. The company stated that the model ranks as the top open weights model from the US or Europe on aggregated benchmarks, outperforms closed frontier models on visual grounding, and delivers state-of-the-art results across cyber defense, manufacturing, and finance workloads.

Built end-to-end in Europe, Mistral Large 4 can be deployed through Mistral Cloud infrastructure and is available immediately to all users via API. Mistral AI is also collaborating privately with cybersecurity partners, with an open weights release scheduled for the end of October.
