Google launched its first test satellite carrying four TPUs into orbit last week under Project Suncatcher, an exploration into hosting machine learning infrastructure in space.

The mission aims to assess whether Google's AI hardware can withstand the physical stress of spaceflight as well as the radiation and thermal extremes of orbit.
